Introduction

Introduction Hi, my name is Kiara! I was born and raised in Wilmington, North Carolina and I'm a sophomore here at HPU. I'm majoring in Sport Communication and I'm a hugeeee Pittsburgh Steelers fan. I also love music, singing, and Disney movies. Something odd about me is that I sleep so deeply that I don't wake up to almost ANYTHING, including normal alarm sounds. The only thing I will consistently wake me up is Circle of Life from Lion King, so that's my alarm every morning.

4/18 No Class Assignment

So I'll be doing my photostory on Chapel and Religious Life and some of the individuals that work in it. I'm the sudent director of Genesis Gospel Choir and we sing at HPU's chapel services occassionally and I plan to use photos from the weekly Chapel services and the people who attend them . I will likely get a better idea of how to display the photos once I've taken them. This layout is obviously subject to change, especially since I tend to be very fickle when making creative decisions.

Forum 6: Swatchy Schemey

Intro For this week's assignment, we had to make an original color scheme on InDesign and use those colors to make name plates and a swatch grid. The colors I chose my color swatches from is something very close to me. Literally. I used my bedspread. There were a lot of different colors to choose from so I liked that I would have many options within the pattern. Name Plates and Swatches Creating the swatches was pretty straight forward. I created a square using the Rectangular tool and copied the original square I made to ensure the following ones were all the same size. After creating the colors by making new "Color Swatches", I ensured that there were no strokes on any of the boxes and had to slightly reorganize each of them to be flush against one another to avoid having a white border between my colors. I created a Red, Dark Blue, and Pink and then made the corresponding tints at 75% and 25% of the original's strength. After making my swatches, ...

Forum 5: Composition

I'm planning on doing my Photostory on Chapel and Religious Life here on campus so I used Hayworth Chapel as my subject to highlight the composition elements. Rule of Thirds Although I couldn't keep the leaves of the plant from extending further into the frame, the vase and central portion of the plant remain in the far left third of the picture. Symmetry Upon review, I probably could've centered the photo a little better, but its still really easy to see the precise symmetry in all of the elements of the photo. Angles I got this shot of one of the chandeliers in Hayworth Chapel by trying to view it from an uncommon angle. Thus, I ended up laying on the floor to get it from this angle. Layering This was one of the easier elements for me to capture, seeing how well aligned the pews are. The biggest part was making sure I captured the many rows to properly see the layering. Shapes Shapes was probably the most difficult composition e...
